CPI memorial attacked in Kannur

The CPI believes that its enemies want to provoke its cadres by such attacks.

The memorial of CPI leader E. Kunjiraman Nair that was attacked at Karinkalkuzhi in Kannur.

KOZHIKODE: The  memorial of a CPI leader was attacked in Kannur  early on  Sunday  amidst the continuing slugfest between the CPM and the CPI. The window panes  of the memorial of CPI leader and freedom fighter E. Kunjiraman Nair at Karinkalkuzhi near Mayyil  were broken allegedly in stone-pelting. Two weeks ago,  the flag-hoisting column of the CPI was  destroyed by unidentified persons in the same area. In January, the CPI office and K.V. Moosankutty memorial building near Parassinikadavu were  attacked.  

A memorial of CPI leader N.E. Balaram  at his birthplace near Kuthuparambu was damaged earlier. All these places are the strongholds of the CPM. CPI Kannur district secretary  P. Santhosh Kumar said that a few anti-social elements within the CPM were responsible for the attack.   The CPI believes that its enemies want to   provoke its cadres by such attacks.  The Mayyil police have  registered a case.
