Thiruvananthapuram: In view of the growing number of fever cases and deaths in the state, CPM state secretariat has asked party cadre to fan out and take up mosquito eradication activities and other cleanliness operations. The party decision comes in the wake of widespread criticism against the health authorities’ failure to check fever deaths in the state. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan directed branch committees, area committees and district committees to organise cleanliness programmes involving people in large numbers in their respective localities.

The CPM workers would clean up clogged drains, remove garbage, mosquito breeding sites, streets and residential areas. The decision has been taken in the wake of the alarming increase in the number of viral fever cases across the state.
The party units and mass organisations of the party would also coordinate with health authorities, local bodies, voluntary organisations and NGOs to carry out cleaning programmes with mass mobilisation. The party workers will also work in hospitals to help patient care activities especially directed at the large number of people who are suffering from viral fever.
