Hyderabad: A power cut saved property at State Bank of India, Bibinagar branch, from being burgled, as the thieves failed to cut the grills. The two burglars earlier looted about four kg gold from Andhra Bank at Ghatkesar and bought cars with the money, said the Rachakonda police who recovered property worth over Rs 25 lakh from the accused duo on Wednesday.

On June 7 night, the officials of SBI, Bibinagar branch, went to the ATM on learning about the power failure. While checking for the cause, they noticed that the cables were broken and a ladder was outside the building and other material was seen scattered inside the bank. They immediately alerted the Bibinagar police and searched for the suspects, however, in vain.

With the help of the technical clues and a tip, the Special Operations Team sleuths apprehended Perika Ebby, 30, and his brother-in-law K. Shiva Kumar, 27.
