Muzaffarnagar: A police sub-inspector's son has been arrested for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile of a local mosque's cleric and posting messages threatening BJP leaders from it, police said on Saturday.

Ajay Kumar, who is the owner of a computer centre, was arrested from his house in Shamli on Friday following a complaint by cleric Maulana Shokin, CO Nishank Sharma said.

Impersonating the cleric, Kumar had allegedly made comments threatening BJP MP Hukum Singh, BJP MLA Suresh Rana, Bajrang Dal leader Vivek Premi, he said.

The messages and comments also contained names of local Hindu activists, the CO said.
