THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Karipur airport at 3:45 pm on Sept 24 to attend the BJP meet and return 5:45 pm the next day. He will be attending no government programmes but party engagements which include national council meeting and Smrithi Sandhya of Jan Sangh veterans who had attended their conclave here 50 years ago, which elected Deendayal Upadhyaya as its president. BJP leaders here had earlier said the PM Modi would sit through the entire three-day gathering from Sept 23.
But he had to shorten the visit due to mounting tension in Kashmir. “Mr Modi will address a public gathering on the beach at 5 pm on Saturday. By 6:30 pm he will leave for the West Hill Government Guest House and at 7.45 pm, he will attend the gathering of Jan Sangh leaders at Zamorin's school,” said a top BJP leader. He will be at the BJP national council meet on Swapnanagari grounds from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on Sunday. A meeting of government officials, police, BJP leaders and SPG met at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon and reviewed security arrangements.
