KOLLAM: A memorial building for  CPM martyr comrade Ajaya Prasad  at Clappana here has been  attacked by unidentified assailants for the third time after it was  constructed three years ago.  The glass panes and name board of the building were destroyed by miscreants using stone and wooden planks on Sunday night. Though RSS men were convicted for the murder of   Ajaya Prasad on July 20, 2007,    the CPM leaders have not  blamed anyone for the incident.  But  they took out a  protest march on Monday evening.

Broken window panes of the memorial building. Both the groups suspect that vested interests are trying to create tensions between them. The CPM Clappana local committee office is functioning in the building. “Things are peaceful  in the area and we don’t have any issue with the RSS presently. We don’t  blame them though the comrade was murdered by  RSS men.  Some vested interests may be behind the incident,”  CPM local committee secretary Vijaya Krishnan told DC. He also suspected the role of the UDF local wing in the matter.

Ajaya Prasad  was the son of Syam Prasad and Indira Thankachi hailing from Karunagappalli. He served as the joint secretary of Karunagappalli SFI area committee and a delegate in the SFI state conference. He was in the forefront of the campaign against communal forces and had persuaded many students and friends to rally round the Left progressive students union.
