Kochi: A delegation of women scholars and activists will call on the State Women’s Commission on Wednesday and submit a representation to the commission to allay the fears of citizens concerned about the violation of women's rights and human rights in the Hadiya case, and the covering letter. The delegation of concerned women included Mercy Alexander, J Bhoomi, Varsha Basheer, and J Devika.

The plea is endorsed by eminent citizens and scholars including Ashish Nandy, Ashish Kothari, Sumit Sarkar, Nandini Sundar, Susie Tharu, Nivedita Menon, and Amit Bhaduri, and by feminist and queer organizations across the country. The gender adviser to the present government TK Anandi has also endorsed it.

Around 120 scholars and activists from across the world have endorsed the petition, said a person associated with the initiative.  “We are hoping that the government and the Women's Commission will rise from their stupor to clear the air on a case that is threatening to destroy social amity in Kerala irreversibly”, she said.
