KOZHIKODE: The Government Higher secondary school, Kuttikkattor, witnessed 2400 students singing in harmony on Wednesday in the school campus during the morning assembly. As part of the school Kalolsavam, a musical programme was conducted called “Ragamalika” for which the students were trained by Gangadaran Kuruvangad, music teacher.  All the students participated and sang melodiously, the effect of two months’ training. “There were three groups of 800 students each singing the songs taught during music classes. It was not easy to organize and coordinate the practice sessions. But the love for music and the fervent enthusiasm of students, teachers and parents provided great support and encouragement” said Gangadaran.

The programme, inaugurated by PTA president Moosa Mouvlavi, was the first initiative from the school to hone the cultural talents of the students along with academics. It was aimed at providing a platform for the students to display their talents and strengthen it. “The participation of all the students was the huge success of the show. Through music they created a positive and vibrant atmosphere through their team spirit. The idea was put forward by Gangadaran but none of us expected such a great performance. We have plans of making it big by including other art forms,” said Basheer Perumanna, Malayalam teacher. The hard work finally paid off and it would also help in improving the confidence of the students, he added.
