Tamil Nadu Assembly secretary justifies DMK MLAs' suspension

Chennai: Justifying the en-masse suspension of 80 DMK MLAs from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for seven days on August 17, the TN Legislative Assembly secretary informed the Madras high court that the decision taken by the House was in consonance with the provisions of the Constitution of India and the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Rules.

A.M.P. Jamaludeen, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly secretary stated this in his counter affidavit filed in response to the petitions from DMK Treasurer and the leader of the opposition M.K. Stalin and MLA Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, which challenged the en-mass suspension of DMK MLAs including them by the Assembly secretary.
