Hyderabad: Visitors will no longer have to pay ₹ 1,000 as charges for taking cameras inside Lumbini Park, Sanjeevaiah Park and NTR Gardens. Dropping of this fee is coming into effect immediately.
Special chief secretary Arvind Kumar tweeted: “Based on public representations, camera charges of ₹ 1,000 by HMDA and HGCL are henceforth (being) waived off for anyone carrying cameras in Lumbini Park, NTR Gardens and Sanjeevaiah Park with immediate effect. No need to pay any charges for your camera please (sic).”
Deccan Chronicle had highlighted this issue on September 12 in its news headlined “HMDA charges ₹ 1,000 to take cameras inside public parks”. At the time, HMDA had announced that entry fee for Lumbini Park, NTR Gardens and Sanjeevaiah Park for children above five years is being increased from ₹ 10 to ₹ 15 and for adults from ₹ 20 to ₹ 25. Authorities had been charging ₹ 1,000 to carry cameras inside these parks ever since the revision of rates.
