DMK to form human chain next week
Though, all the parties which raised their voice in Parliament had appealed to Modi to solve the problems of the poor.
Chennai: DMK will form a human chain on November 24 urging the Centre to come out with suitable measures to alleviate the sufferings of the common man due to the demonetisation of higher denomination currencies.
Charging the BJP government at the centre with hastily carrying out the move without prior arrangements and appropriate plans, he said people are undergoing immense suffering due to the move. He said poor people who make a hand-to-mouth existence are unable to go to their jobs and standing in queues before banks for hours, he said. Vendors are affected as their sale had come down.
Though, all the parties which raised their voice in Parliament had appealed to Modi to solve the problems of the poor, he did not come to Parliament to answer the demands. While the Chief Ministers of other states had condemned the Centre’s move, the Tamil Nadu government had not taken any measure, Karunanidhi said.
Urging the Centre to take steps to mitigate the people’s sufferings, the DMK would hold a human chain protest on November 24 in the evening from 4 to 5 pm in all the district headquarters. The agitations would be presided over by the district secretaries, the DMK leader said and asked the people, merchants and workers besides DMK cadre to take part in the human chain protest.
DMK ally Congress has already announced a protest demonstration on November 21 throughout the state against the demonetisation move of the Union government.
