Norwegians beautify walls of Palayam bus stand
The initiative is a collective of more than 120 young artists who are planning to convert the walls of the city into pieces of art.
KOZHIKODE: The passengers, drivers and conductors of private buses at Palayam bus stand were amazed to see a group of foreigners painting pictures on the walls on Saturday. The team of students led by a teacher was on a trip to the city to learn the operational methods and impact of Compassionate Kozhikode project. When the group learnt about the beautification initiative underway in connection with the project and found a group of youngsters under 'Artists of Kozhikode' (AoK) affiliated to it working on the walls of the city, they also joined them with paints and brushes.
C.K. Sabith, one of the volunteers of Artists of Kozhikode, said that the artists' community was happy to include the group of foreigners from Norway in the beautification drive. The initiative is a collective of more than 120 young artists who are planning to convert the walls of the city into pieces of art. "We have already completed painting the walls of beach with amazing pictures. We have turned now to the Palayam bus stand which was known for its lack of charm and neatness," Sabith said.
The NSS students from city schools helped them in cleaning the walls and soon their volunteers will take over with colours of joy, he added. District collector N. Prasanth, the brain behind Compassionate Kozhikode, is also behind the beautification project. Whenever there is lack of materials like paints and brushes, he would alert the people through Facebook.
