Bengaluru: A family dispute led to the murder of a 65-year-old man, who was bludgeoned to death by his son, at Koudenahalli in Ramamurthy Nagar police limits on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Narayanaswamy. His 28-year-old unemployed son, Manoj, is absconding.

Narayaswami was living alone and had rented out a few houses. Manoj lived with his mother at Seegehalli near K.R. Puram.

According to the police, there was a running feud between the father and the son. Around 6.30 pm on Saturday, Manoj had gone to his father's house to discuss property issues.

But the discussion soon turned into a heated argument and both started fighting. Narayanaswamy took a hammer to attack his son, but Manoj, in a fit of rage, snatched it, allegedly hit his father in the head repeatedly and fled.

“A few minutes later, Narayanaswamy's wife, Jyothi, came to the house looking for her son and found her husband in a pool of blood. She did not inform us as she was scared that her son would be arrested. Some neighbours came to know about the incident and they alerted us. We have questioned Jyothi, but she claims that the fight was over Manoj’s marriage. His father wanted him to get married, but he did not. She told us that Manoj had moved out of his father’s house for this reason. We are investigating the case from all angles and the reason for the murder will be clear once Manoj is arrested,” the Ramamurthy Nagar police, who have registered a case, said.
