Short-staffed GHMC in hunt for 'other polling officers'
An offiicial said, their services would be utilised during emergencies.
Hyderabad: The GHMC is looking for ‘other polling officers (OPOs)’ for the December 7 elections. The civic body is short of staff after bifurcation. Against the requirement of 9,000 OPOs, the corporation has just 6,000.
A senior GHMC official said that in order to impart training on the functioning of the Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail, the civic body had invited OPOs for a training session on November 20.
An offiicial said, their services would be utilised during emergencies. The official said the civic body was been not sure of the number of OPOs who would attend the training session.
He said the corporation would take stringent action against absentees under Section 134 of the Representation of People’s Act, 1991, pertaining to remaining absent without information.
