High throttle, heavy drama mark Hyderabad’s first motorsport event
HYDERABAD: An action-packed day beckoned motorsports enthusiasts in the city on Sunday, with the main race of the first round of the Indian Racing League (IRL) giving spectators their money’s worth of high speed and drama.
Spectators of all ages made their way to the NTR Marg, with the track revolving around the Hussainsagar and weaving through the Necklace Road.
Racers were greeted enthusiastically by the crowd that packed the galleries to capacity, with many also taking to high-rise buildings and the Telugu Talli flyover to catch a glimpse of the event.
Precursor races were delayed, which caused unrest among the spectators. However, once they resumed, the action kept the audience enthralled.
Those who were unable to find their seats or people walking from car parks also rushed to the nearest free spot to enjoy the experience.
Despite the many hiccups in its first event, Hyderabad can now boast of hosting premier motorsport.
