V&E officials inspect meals’ scheme in 54 AP schools

VIJAYAWADA: Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) officials inspected 54 schools in Andhra Pradesh with regard to implementation of Jagananna Gorumudda mid-day meals scheme.

At certain of the schools, they found that the scheme is not being implemented in the required manner.

V&E officials found that at the ZP High School in Chollangi village of Tallarevu mandal in Kakinada district, stock and parents’ committee meeting registers had not been maintained. The kitchen is not spacious and even located near the toilet.

Students of ZP high schools in Devarapalli village of East Godavari district, Gannavaram of Krishna district and Nunna of NTR Vijayawada expressed dissatisfaction with the quality and taste of food being served to them.

The quality of chikki had not been good enough in MPP (TW) School at Mandaparthi village of Ananthagiri mandal in ASR district. No bore well or water connection could be seen at GVMC Primary School in Rayapalayam village of Bheemili mandal in Visakhapatnam district, Katepalli ZPP High School in Vinjamur mandal of Nellore district, Government High School at Tangutur village of Prakasam district, and ZP High School in Jarugumalli of Prakasam district.
Officials said rice bags at ZP High School in Kumaram village of Jami mandal in Vizianagaram district did not have the MDM logo. Stock variations had been noticed in government and zilla parishad high school at Irala village in Chittoor district.

V&E wing also found that many schools had not been inspected by mandal or district education officers.
