Usha Argh' marks colourful culmination of Chhath puja
Hyderabad: The three-day Chhath Puja culminated with the ‘Usha Argh’ thanksgiving coinciding with the first rays of Monday’s sunrise. Several water bodies in the city were decorated for the occasion, while the state government supported the festival by involving cultural artists and inviting special musical bands to perform to the absolute delight of the devotees.
The festival is celebrated by natives of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
Janaki Devi from Sai Nagar in Balapur, who took a dip in a pond at DRDO RCI township, said “our most auspicious festival ended on a pleasant note. This festival ushers in good health and prosperity.”
Like ghats around the city, even tank bund was a popular draw with devotees, looking their best in traditional attire, taking the holy dip around sunrise. Many families mentioned that the success of Chhath puja was largely because of the peace that prevails in the city and the oneness shown by its people.
