CM Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurates Pink Police Patrol Programme
To operate within 7 km radius of Thrissur.
Thirssur: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Pink Police Patrol Programme in the district on Monday. Two police jeeps with four women police officers each will patrol Thrissur to attend to the complaints of women and children calling on the toll free number 1515. The Pink Police team will currently operate within the 7 km radius of Thrissur town. For places outside this limit, the women police control team at 1515 will alert the local police.
A total of 13 women police officers who have been trained for the programme will address a complaint as soon as they are alerted on the toll free number. All the calls on the number will be attended by women police officers. Inaugurating the pink police vehicles at Town Hall here Pinarayi Vijayan said that the safety of women and children in the state was of utmost importance to his government. “Instead of fear, the public needs to feel a sense of protection if they hear about the police,” CM added.
The control room of the pink police has been set up at the district police control room at the Thrissur Range Office on High Road in the town. Minister V S Sunil Kumar, Mayor Ajitha Jayarajan, District Panchayat President Sheela Vijayakumar among others were present.
