Vizag family pins hope on crowd-funding to raise Rs.7 crore for ailing daughter

Visakhapatnam: City based Monisha Hatkar, a mother of two girls and bread-earner of the family pinned hope on crowd-funding to raise Rs 7 crores for her 10-year-old daughter, Keya, who is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2.

Keya was detected with SMA at a very early age of 11 months and has been under sensitive conditions ever since. Keya’s mother is currently raising funds of Rs 7 crores on the crowd-funding platforms Impactguru for a drug named Risdiplam, which can give her a new lease of life. Keya’s fundraiser has so far raised Rs. 26 lakhs from over 450 donors, in 10 days.

The family found out that their little angel was suffering from SMA in February 2012.
