2 agri workers die, 11 injured as auto overturns
Karimnagar: Two women agri workers died and 11 others were injured after an auto-rickshaw overturned in an attempt to avoid hitting a troop of monkeys at Poshettipally in Vemulawada Rural mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday.
Police said the auto was ferrying 13 farm workers towards Poshettipally when a troop of monkeys suddenly dashed onto the road. In a bid to avoid clashing them, the driver applied sudden brakes which resulted in the overturning of the vehicle, killing two women on the spot and injuring 11 others including the driver.
The deceased were identified as Jatharagonda Mallavva, 58, and Kurra Balavva, 54, both residents of Chinthalthana village of the same mandal.
After being alerted, police inspected the spot and shifted the injured to the local hospital and the bodies for postmortem. A case was registered.
