RPF men to carry life-saving tablets
Passengers can approach them for the medicine in case of emergency, Amuthan added.
Chennai: In a move to save lives of rail passengers suffering heart attack while travelling or waiting, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been equipped with a combination of tablets that can extend the golden hour.
“About 2,000 RPF personnel of Chennai division will carry the tablet pouch with them. Isordil, Clopildogrel and Atorvastatin will extend the golden hours to 2 to 3 hours, which is enough time to hurry to the nearby hospital,” Louis Amuthan, senior divisional security commissioner, Chennai division, said.
Amuthan also assured that every RPF personnel in Chennai division would be provided with medicines so that they can give them to the needy passengers.
Ashwani Lohani, Railway Board Chairman launched the initiative at an event in Chennai Central on Saturday. Southern Railway General Manager R.K. Kulshrestha also participated at the event. Railway officials said the initiative would be extended to other divisions of the Southern Railway, subsequently. “Each RPF police will have one set of medicines.
