Commuters fume as SCR cancels 33 MMTS trains

HYDERABAD: Citing operational reasons, the South Central Railway (SCR) has cancelled 33 MMTS trains for three days from Monday. The sudden announcement has left commuters fuming at the authorities.

The cancelled trains were on the Hyderabad-Lingampally, Lingampally-Falaknuma, Ramachandrapuram-Falaknuma and Secunderabad-Lingampally routes. Some trains were earlier cancelled for ‘track maintenance’.
Many regulars said that this was causing inconvenience and it has become a regular practice with SCR. Many of them took to Twitter to air their grievances.

Ravinder Naik tweeted: "Many MMTS trains have been cancelled from the last 20 days Daily from Nampally station (Hyderabad). Indian Railway wontedly cancelling these trains to favour Hyderabad Metro (sic)."

Mohammad Ashwaan: "Why the MMTS TRAINS are getting cancelled everyday same nuisance they say Operational Reasons why don't you cancel the permanently u guys are giving chance to the metro, city bus Ola Uber at least give some priority to MMTS so many people are depending on MMTS u guys won't Understand about it please tell the DRM GM to increase MMTS services before Lockdown it was good but after lockdown, the service of trains are getting worse people are avoiding due to not running on time please run the trains on time and increase it (sic)."

Dr Fahim Siddiqui: "So many MMTS trains are cancelled for today and tomorrow but why so? These train cancellations lead to inconvenience to the public at large who can't afford to ride in an Ola /Uber (sic)."
