Teachers’ transfer guidelines: HC directs edu. dept to pass orders
Hyderabad: A bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuvan and Justice N. Tukaramji of the Telangana High Court disposed of a writ petition while granting liberty to the petitioner to submit a fresh representation to the school education department regarding her transfer. Petitioner Nazima Sultana had filed a writ petition questioning the denial of preferential allotment under the special category of employees. She said the guidelines stated that widows who were working as school teachers would be given priority in transfers according to their choice. The petitioner, a secondary grade teacher (Urdu) sought Yadari Bhongir but was allotted the MPTS in Nalgonda district. The bench directed the authorities to pass an order within 30 days from the date of representation.
Plea seeks mental health rehab centres
A bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuvan and Justice N. Tukaramji granted time to the government and other authorities to respond to a plea seeking implementation of the Mental Health Care Act, 2017, filed by the Integrated New Life Society for Education and Development. The society sought implementation of the Act and Rules and Regulations for establishment of a rehabilitation centre for mental health issues in each district. The panel while adjourning the matter to March 13 directed the petitioner to include the TS Legal Service Authority.
Accused says no intention to murder
Justice C. Sumalatha of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday granted bail to the prime accused in a murder that occurred during a drunken brawl at a restaurant. The petition was filed by Moddu Praveen Kumar, a realtor from Hanamkonda, who contended that he and his friends were consuming alcohol in a bar on January 28. When asked to leave as closing time was nearing, a scuffle ensued and the petitioner smashed a liquor bottle on the head of the waiter, ending his life. The petitioner said he had no intention of taking a life. The prosecution contended that the scuffle broke out under the influence of alcohol. It stated that eight witnesses were examined in the trial court and material evidence examination was at the end. The court concluded that there was no intention to kill a person and granted bail with the cost of Rs 50,000 towards the bail bond.
Man gets bail in attempt to murder case
Justice C. Sumalatha on Tuesday granted bail in a case of attempt to murder. The petition was filed by Ummaraveni Srinivas Srinu and two others, all of them agriculturists from Sirikonda in Ellanthakunta mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district. The complainant said that early on January 17 morning, he was on his way to his farm when a dog tried to approach him. He pelted a stone which hit the light of a tractor passing by. A scuffle broke out with the tractor driver and the complainant was beaten with sticks. Upon examination of the injuries, it was inferred that the force applied was lethal but not fatal to cause death. The court concluded that there was neither an intention to kill nor did the action result in attempt to murder and granted bail with a cost of Rs 50,000 towards the bail bond.
