Demands of striking NIMS nurses accepted
Hyderabad: Nurses at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Sunday went on a flash strike to protest against the alleged harassment by the in-charge director.
Nurses alleged that NIMS administration has been pressuring them by assigning additional duties.
They sat on a protest in the hospital premises, demanding that the hospital authorities address their demands. The nurses alleged that they were subjected to a heavy workload with the in-charge director assigning them additional duties. The flash strike by nurses affected healthcare services. Both inpatient and outpatient services were hit by the boycott of duties.
The NIMS administration held a meeting with the agitating staff and it was called off by noon.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Ashalatha from NIMS nursing association said that the staff sought deployment of additional staff to the clinic to the newly constructed building as the work burden is increasing on them. She said that the management has agreed to fulfill most of their demands and hence the strike was called off.
