Anakapalle MP Avanthi Srinivasa Rao launches mobile health units
The mobile unit will provide services like diagnosis, treatment.
Visakhapatnam: Anakapalle MP Avanthi Srinivasa Rao launched mobile medical units (MMU), as part of the Chandranna Santana Chikitsa project, at the zilla parishad office here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivas said the "Chandranna Sanchara Chikitsa", a mobile health service facility for rural areas, will provide a convergence of services for identification, screening, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, follow-up and referral of high-risk cases in each rural habitation.
District collector Dr. N. Yuvraj, ZP chairperson Lalam Bhavani, DM&HO Dr. J. Sarojini also attended the event.
The MP informed that medical services by each MMU would be provided by a well-trained team, comprising of a medical officer, nurse, pharmacist and lab-technician at each service point.
"Each MMU will be equipped with latest medical devices along with tablets and laptops that will record the demographic and medical consultation of each beneficiary. The electronic medical records will be stored on a centralised server," added Mr. Srinivasa Rao.
About 12 MMUs were allocated to Visakhapatnam district, which has a rural population of 22,54,667 (53 percent of total population of the district), according the 2011 census.
