Telangana logged 100% institutional childbirths, safe deliveries in 2021-22
HYDERABAD: The state stood first in the country for institutional deliveries of children, recording 100 per cent institutional deliveries in 2021-22, as per a National Health Mission report released by the Centre.
It increased from 99.83 per cent of institutional deliveries from 2020-21, the report stated, with the rest being home deliveries.
Further, the share of safe childbirths also went up from 99.96 per cent in 2020-21 to 100 per cent in 2021-22, according to the report.
Besides Telangana, Lakshadweep also reported 100 per cent institutional deliveries, as per the report.
Telangana health minister T. Harish Rao said that it was a significant milestone in maternal and child healthcare, and attributed the achievement to the KCR Kit initiative, “which promoted safe and healthy deliveries and reinforced the state's commitment to creating a healthier future for the people of Telangana.”
