Hyderabad ATS to probe Kollam blast

KOLLAM: An Anti-Terrorism Squad  team from Hyderabad and the Q-Branch from Tirunelveli are in Kollam to assist  the probe into the explosion in  the parking area of the court complex at the Kollam collectorate on Wednesday last.
The ATS team is investigating the possible link between the Kollam blast and a similar one in the Chittoor court complex in Andhra Pradesh on April 7. 

A steel bomb  planted in a jeep parked at the court complex there  had exploded injuring three persons. The local police here  have questioned over  200 persons on the basis of a statement given by an autorickshaw driver  operating near the court complex.    Two persons aged around 40 and 35  had  hired his autorickshaw to go to the nearby Vadi beach by 5.30 p.m. on the day of the blast.

He overheard them saying, “let everyone know that we are also present here.”   A team comprising  two DySPs under City Police Commissioner Satheesh Bino is investigating the case.  A magisterial inquiry by the ADM is also in progress. An improvised electronic device  planted under a jeep belonging to the labour department  had exploded at the parking area of the court complex leaving a person injured.
