Harish Rao announces two more centers at NIMS and in Alwal
HYDERABAD: Revolutionising the public healthcare sector in the state, a first-of-its-kind super speciality ‘Mother and Child Hospital’ (MCH) was inaugurated by health minister T. Harish Rao in the Gandhi Hospital campus here on Sunday.
The 200-bedded hospital, built at a cost of Rs 52 crores will provide comprehensive medical services to mothers and newborns, including providing for all health needs of maternity and neonatal care.
The Gandhi Hospital has an existing 300-bed facility in the obstetrics and gynaecology department. With the inauguration of the new facility, the bed strength in Gandhi Hospital had gone up to 500.
Speaking at the inauguration, Harish Rao said that the MCH is in line with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s vision of a healthier Telangana state. Going forward, an MCH will come up at Nims and another one in Alwal to make available 600 beds overall.
The MCH facilities, equipped with advanced equipment like ventilators and heart-testing machines, will cater to all aspects of childbirth and neonatal services, from childbirth-related issues to intricate surgical interventions.
Meanwhile, Rao also launched 33 neonatal ambulances at Gandhi Hospital. The vehicles are equipped with neonatal transport incubators, ventilators, and an oxygen support system. He said that the neonatal ambulance service stands as testimony to the government's commitment to ensure timely and effective medical assistance to infants in emergencies besides making for a robust medical system.
In a separate event, the health minister inaugurated the new Emergency Response Centre (ERC) 108, 104, 102 at the Indian Institute of Health and family welfare office in the city. These will elevate the state government’s healthcare system in pursuit of Aarogya Telangana.
The ERC will operate as a centralised call centre, effectively amalgamating the functions of various health helplines, namely 108, 102, and 104, and will streamline and optimize emergency medical services. These vehicles have been installed with GPS devices, facilitating real-time monitoring and management as well as advanced software displays for swift response and coordination.
