Cabinet appoints Sushil Khanna as consultant
Thiruvananthapuram: Cabinet on Tuesday appointed a consultant to study in detail the functioning of state run Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). Prof Sushil Khanna of IIM Kolkata will conduct a detailed study covering KSRTC’s operation management, financial management, HR management and inventory management which have been included in the terms of reference. He will submit a detailed report to the government within three months.
Cabinet decided to approach the Centre against GM mustard seed. The chief minister said there were widespread apprehensions regarding GM mustard. "There are still no conclusive reports to suggest that it is not harmful to health. It will kill our own varieties of mustard seeds besides causing destruction in agriculture sector," he said.
Pinarayi said mustard oil was widely used for ayurveda medicinal oils and other medicines hence permission should not be given for GM seeds. Cabinet announced Rs 8 lakh to the families of eight youths who drowned in Kutiyadi the other day. Rs 3 lakh more was sanctioned for the family of Alan K Saji and Priyanka K Saji who died in giant wheel mishap in Pathanamthitta.
