Clean sweep for Students Federation of India
SFI had a complete victory in the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) colleges also.
KOZHIKODE: Students Federation of India (SFI) maintained their supremacy in the students union elections held in various affiliated colleges of Calicut University on Thursday. Out of 10 government colleges, they had a clean sweep in all the nine colleges under the city. Amongst aided colleges, SFI won Malabar Christian College. But at Zamorins Guruvayurappan College eight general seats were won by SFI and the other seat by Kerala Students Union (KSU). SFI had a complete victory in the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) colleges also.
There was a tight competition between SFI and ABVP at Guruvayurappan College. Meghna K of the English department was elected as the chairperson and Abhinav P of sociology general secretary. “Malabar Christian College witnessed a historic win where there was an unanimous election in seven seats and the remaining seats for Chairperson and Fine arts were won with a majority” said Ashwin R.M who was elected as the Chairperson. Arun Shankar won the general secretary's post of the college.
In the Government Arts and Science College, the chairperson’s position was retained by SFI. Aruna Markose won the chairman’s post and Sachin general secretary. Providence Women’s College was the only college in the city limits where elections were conducted but not on political lines, 16 candidates were in the poll fray. Anju P Joseph of Department of Physics was elected as the chairperson and Gayathri T K of history department won the general secretary post. Although the college witnessed a minor rift between second year and third year students, the college later celebrated the victory with a bash.
