CM Pinarayi Vijayan to inaugurate investors' meet
Major investors in country to participate
KOZHIKODE: A two-day investors meet ‘Kerala Investment Conclave- 2016’ will be organized by the Greater Malabar Initiative (GMI), a newly established forum of industrialists, professionals and technocrats from the Malabar region, on Saturday at UL Cyber Park, Kozhikode, the leading lights of the conclave said at a press conference here on Friday. As many as 300 NRI businessmen and 100 major investors in the country are expected to attend the meet. Chief Minister Mr Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the conclave.
A host of ministers including Finance minister TM Thomas Isaac, A. C. Moideen (Tourism), T. P. Ramakrishnan (Labor and Excise), and A. K. Saseendran (Transport) are also expected to attend. “The programme aims at showcasing Malabar as a potential investment destination for businesses from around the world. The conclave will bring together government authorities, investors, industrialists, NRIs and leading knowledge consultants like Ernst and Young who will help identify projects with potential,” said GMI president Dr. Azad Moopen.
The forum will explore investment opportunities in sectors like IT, tourism, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, food processing, industries, education, skill development, power, and value-added products. Each session will have discussions and paper presentations. “Tourism within Malabar is yet another often ignored area, and we at GMI are focused on exploring the feasibility of a circuit connecting Wayanad, Bekal and Kappad. The possibility of a smart city in the 312 acres land currently with Grasim Industries in Mavoor will also be looked into,” Dr Moopen added. Officials representing the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KINFRA) and the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation also are expected to attend the event.
