Lawyers' behaviour unreasonable: Sebastian Paul
Dr Paul said that the government is advocating castration for street dogs to contain them.
Thrissur: Senior lawyer Sebastian Paul has come down heavily on a section of lawyers for attacking mediapersons inside courts and said society should take a call on correcting it. “There are two groups in Kerala who attack people without conceivable reasons; one is rabid dogs on the street and the other, a section of lawyers,” Dr Paul, who was on Wednesday suspended from the Kerala High Court Advocate Association for opposing the strong arm-tactics of a section of lawyers against media persons, said here on Thursday.
Speaking at the memorial meeting of CPM leader C.H. Kanaran organised by the CPM mouth piece Deshabhimani, Dr Paul said that the government is advocating castration for street dogs to contain them. “Let the people decide how to treat the lawyers who indulge in violence for no reason.” He pooh-poohed the suspension saying he stood to lose nothing after being ousted from the lawyer’s union. Dr Paul said he had no plans to denigrate the lawyer’s profession nor those who practise law but was only pointing out the mistakes a section of it commits. “Pointing out mistakes does not mean degrading lawyers.”
