Hyderabad: Ashoorkhana ceiling falls
A huge portion of the plaster from the ceiling collapsed early in the morning.
Hyderabad: A portion of the ceiling of the Nal-e-Mubarak ashoorkhana fell on Friday morning, possibly due to damage caused by the recent rains. No one was injured in the incident.
Mir Shabbir Hasan Razvi, the caretaker of the ashoorkhana, said that a huge portion of the plaster from the ceiling collapsed early in the morning. A few hours before the incident, a group of women had gathered in the ashoorkhaana to participate in a religious programme which ended around midnight.
The Nal-e-Mubarak dates back to the Qutb Shahi era and is considered to be one of the oldest ashoorkhanas in the city. It has been directly managed by the TS Wakf Board for the past four years.
Md Saleem, the Chairman of the TS Wakf Board, said, “A similar incident took place a couple of years ago. The roof is in a highly dilapidated state, and it can cave in at any time. Repairs should urgently be taken up.” He added that funds for the repair of the ashoorkhana had already been released by the authorities.
“We are releasing funds for ashoorkhanas, dargahs and other places of religious importance,” he said.
