Hanamkonda: Voter Id Puts Couples' Age At 123 Years
Warangal: A couple in Kamalapur mandal of Hanamkonda district was left reeling in disbelief upon discovering that their newly-issued voter ID cards listed their age as 123 years.
Kodepaka Kotilingam, 44, and Kodepaka Padma, 42, had recently enrolled for votes as part of the Election Commission of India's (ECI) ongoing drive for new voter enrollment, corrections, additions, and deletions in the electoral rolls.
However, the couple's joy at being registered as voters was swiftly replaced with shock and dismay when they received their voter identity cards bearing their date of birth as 1-1-1900.
In a video that has since gone viral, Kotilingam expressed his disbelief at the egregious error, stating that he had furnished the correct details while applying for voter enrollment.
"I was shocked when I saw my newly-issued voter ID card from the ECI with the wrong date of birth," he said.
Kotilingam further added that he had visited the MRO office to report the error, only to be met with laughter from officials who told him to fill up a form for rectification.
"When I went to a Mee Seva Centre to check it, the same error was reflected on our poll cards," he said.
Kotilingam has urged the concerned officials to take immediate action to correct the error and issue new voter ID cards to him and his wife.
