Visakhapatnam: The low-pressure area formed over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on Friday has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area on Saturday and the system is likely to turn into a depression on Sunday. The weather system may trigger isolated rainfall in coastal Andhra Pradesh from October 23.

Though IMD has not issued any rain alerts, some places in Odisha and few parts of Andhra Pradesh may receive rainfall activity under its impact on October 24 and October 25.

Director of IMD, Amaravati, Stell S., said the impact of the system over Andhra Pradesh would be very low.

The IMD predicted that the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression by Sunday and it is likely to move towards Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon has commenced over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala on Saturday. With the well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, northeasterly winds have strengthened over South and Central Bay of Bengal and extended into middle tropospheric level. However, it will take some more days for the onset of the Northeast Monsoon in Andhra Pradesh and the initial phase is expected to be weak.
