Hyderabad Metro Rail gets safety clearance
The PMO had said that the clearance must be in place for the PM to inaugurate the project.
Hyderabad: The much-awaited authorisation from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for the Mettuguda to SR Nagar line of the Metro Rail was cleared by the CMRS and the Railway Safety Commission and a letter to this effect sent to L&T on Monday.
The clearance was important for starting commercial operations of the metro rail as well as getting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate it on November 28.
The Prime Minister’s Office had said that the safety clearance must be in place for the Prime Minister to inaugurate the project, and the state government is very keen that he should do so.
The inspection team of CMRS headed by Ram Kripal had examined the premises of the metro rail from November 17 to 19 and inspected the civil works, track, overbridge, viaduct, stations, electrical lines, signalling and train control, telecommunications, and other systems.
