SDRF constable dies rescuing flood victims in Nellore district

Tirupati: A 30-year-old SDRF constable involved in rescue operations at Buchireddypalem mandal of Nellore district died accidentally when his life jacket unlocked from his body while rescuing victims of floods.
According to officials, a team from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) had been deputed to Damaramadugu village in Buchireddypalem mandal due to floods following incessant rains. K. Srinivasulu, a native of Kandisa village in Vizianagaram district, was part of the SDRF team.
Srinivasulu had rescued many villagers from floodwaters since Saturday morning. During one of the rescues, his life jacket opened accidentally and he got washed away in gushing waters. The SDRF constable has been declared dead by officials.
The constable is survived by his wife Suneetha and a two-year-old son. Nellore district superintendent of police Ch. Vijaya Rao and other officials paid tributes to Srinivasulu for losing his life while saving others.
A pall of gloom has descended in Kandisa.
