Vijayawada Marathon gets good response
VIJAYAWADA: The seventh edition of the Vijayawada Marathon-2022, organised by Vijayawada Runners and Shriram City, was flagged off by the NTR district collector S Dilli Rao on Sunday.
Guntur range DIG Trivikram Varma flagged off the about 1,500 runners who participated in the run organised in three different categories – the 21 K Run that was flagged off at 5am, the 10 K Run at 6.15am and the 5 K Run at 6.45am at D Address Mall on MG road, Vijayawada. Many senior citizens also took part in the run.
Collector Rao said it was good to see a huge crowd that included men, women, youth, students and senior citizens as also kids in the run with a high level of enthusiasm. “Participating in the run is more important than winning it, and everyone should develop the habit of walking and running in the morning, which is good for health and keeps us fit.”
DIG Trivikram Varma said the Vijayawada Runners Association and the Shriram City's ambition was to make the city a world-class running destination and earn a special spot for it in the Indian running calendar.
A total of 117 officers, subordinate officers, and jawans including family members of the 10th Bn NDRF participated in the three categories.
The winners of the 21-k run in men's category are R Ramesh Chand, T Brahma Reddy and Vishal Abhishek, who secured the first, second and third places in women category. V Navya, K Kamala and P Suitha secured the first, second and third places.
In the 10K run men's category, the winners are B Ramesh, V Ramesh and Pawan Kalyan Nayak. In the women category, Yuthika, Phalak Khan and Lakshmi Sri secured the first, second and third places.
