6-year-old boy dies in wall collapse
HYDERABAD: A six-year-old boy, Dheeraj Singh, died while his cousin Radhika, 5, was injured when a two-decade-old wall at a construction site collapsed on Wednesday in Nimboliadda, Kachiguda.
Dheeraj and Radhika's family relocated from Rajasthan, and their parents worked as labourers in a packaging industry in Kacheguda. Police said the owner of the property dismantled the entire house to build a new house, but postponed demolition of the wall, resulting in the mishap. Though the owner barricaded the old wall with sticks to keep people away from it, the wall fell because it was too old and had no basement to sustain it. The wall was about four feet tall and 18 inches wide.
N. Rama Laxmana Raju, inspector of Kachiguda, a case has been filed against
the land owner Satyender, a cable operator, for negligence that resulted in the wall collapse.
In another incident, 14-year-old K. Aditya suffered severe injuries and fell
unconscious after slipping on the stairs and falling down in Lingampally,
Kachiguda. His condition is stated to be critical.
