Malayalam tutorials for Class X students a hit
The administration is also looking for more helping hands in preparing the videos with time-length less than seven minutes.
KANNUR: The Kannur District Administration's video tutorials in Malayalam for 10th standard students are getting a good response. The tutorials, launched under the project 'Kannur Classroom', are prepared by Anushree, a student from Kannur Medical College, Anjarakkandy and the animations are done by Nikin, an entrepreneur. For the 10th standard Biology examination, scheduled to be held on Thursday, the administration has put up five videos based on the syllabus. One can find the videos from YouTube or from the 'Collector Kannur' Facebook page.
"Learning through video/animation is one of the easiest, most interesting ways of learning. Understanding a concept through video/animation and then reading it through the textbook makes learning less strenuous and hence more enjoyable. But unfortunately, there is a huge gap between videos available in English and those available in Malayalam and that's why we launched this project," said Kannur District Collector Mir Mohammed Ali.
"The first video in the project was screened before a group of students belonging to 8th, 9th and 10th standards at Children's home. The postive response we got from them inspired us to take up the project seriously," he added. The administration is also looking for more helping hands in preparing the videos with time-length less than seven minutes. "One can choose any topic from the 9th or 10th standard syllabus that she is comfortable with and find the concerned video online, dub it in Malayalam and share it with us," the Collector added.
