CM to lead Basaveshwara Jayanti fete today

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashkar Rao will lead the celebrations of the 890th Basaveshwara Jayanthi at Ravindra Bharathi here on Sunday. He had declared Basava Jayanthi as a state function in 2014.

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, legislative council chairman Gutha Sukhendar Reddy, Legislative assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and ministers V. Srinivas Goud, Gangula Kamalakar and others will participate in the celebrations.

The birth anniversary of Mahatma Basaveshwara, the renowned 12th century social reformer is celebrated with the cooperation of Telangana Veerashaiva Lingayat Federation.

A bike rally is also being organised from Matike Nagaiah Dharmashala Sri Veerabhadra Swamy temple at Monda Market to the Basaveshwara statue on Tank Bund.
