The cut-off marks for BCom in leading aided colleges stands at 95.6 percent
KOCHI: BCom continues to be the subject with the highest demand in arts and science colleges under MG University after the first allotment was declared on Monday. The cut-off marks for BCom in leading aided colleges stands at 95.6 percent while BA English has overtaken BA Economics to be on the second spot this time with a cut-off of 92.1 percent while BA Economics, with a cut-off of 91 percent, has been pushed to third place, according to officials manning the
Central Allotment Process for under-graduate admission. In the science stream, BSc Physics has a cut-off of 91 percent in leading colleges while BSc Chemistry has 90 percent. There are a total of 26,460 seats under CAP allotment in 154 colleges under the varsity and allotment was done to all these seats in the first leg, said the officials.
This is for the first time that all under-graduate courses in the university are coming under CAP including Visual Arts and Multimedia. While there were two allotments last year, this time there are four allotments. For SC/ST also while there were only two allotments last time, this time it has gone up to four. The number of supplementary allotments too has gone up from last year's one to two this year.
A total of 70 percent seats of aided colleges and 50 percent seats in self-financing colleges are taken for the CAP while all seats in government colleges come under it. In another departure from last year, the university will not give back to the managements the seats that are left vacant after the CAP, as demanded by the managements this year. “These seats too will be filled by the university through due process including spot allotments," said an official.
