Kerala professional studies centre a non-starter
The appointment of two counsellors for students was also not made so far.
Kottayam: Though the state government had formed the Center for Professional and Advanced Studies for taking control of the School of Medical Education (SME) institutions, the primary administrative functions were not transferred, delaying important decisions.
The admission procedures for nursing and other paramedical courses for this academic year has not yet been completed. The notification was issued only recently, while most of the private colleges have completed the processes.
The appointment of two counsellors for students was also not made so far. "The delay has affected the functioning of the institutions," SME director S. Rejiram told DC.
Previously under the MG University control, they were transferred to the Kerala University of Health Sciences as the KUHS Act did not permit their continuance under the MG University.
While the administrative functions will be discharged by the society, the institutions will be affiliated to the KUHS.
