Journos protest attack by Kerala lawyers
The journalists had avoided marching to the courts to avert further tension.
KOZHIKODE: Journalists should be given free space to work in the society, whether are they are reporting from the courts or other places, opined journalists from Kozhikode on Thursday, while protesting the attack on journalists in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Journalists under the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) took out a protest march from Calicut Press Club through Mananchira and concluded at Kidson Corner.
“The journalists are visiting the courts for first hand information and to be factually correct. This should not be considered as a hindrance by the lawyers. The courts are not only for the lawyers. The Government should ensure that the journalists are given their free space in the society,” said Calicut Press Club president Kamal Varadoor, who inaugurated the protest march. Around 100 journalists took part in the march. The journalists had avoided marching to the courts to avert further tension.
