Traffic slows down after incessant rains
HYDERABAD: The traffic movement on roads of the Hyderabad and Secunderabad has come to a standstill for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday due to partial road damage and overflowing floodwater caused by incessant rains.
Commuters faced difficulties riding their two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles as mud accumulated on the roads in Uppal. The traffic police had to use JCBs to clear the mud and restore vehicle movement on Uppal road.
Rachakonda DCP (traffic) Abhishek Mohanty stated that the police faced challenges managing traffic snarls in Uppal due to the ongoing corridor elevation works, but successfully cleared roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic in rain.
"We have taken measures to prevent traffic snarls in Uppal, especially on Warangal highway," the DCP said.
Similar traffic snarls occurred on the Dilshuknagar-Chaitnayapuri stretch, where floodwater overflowed on the roads, prompting the traffic police to divert traffic with barricades.
At Balanagar Y Junction, traffic came to a standstill up to Kukatpally Metro Rail station due to overflowing of drainage water from manholes. Traffic police and GHMC staff worked to clear the rainwater. Similar incidents were reported at Masab Tank, Miyapur, JNTU, Gachibowli, and other areas in the city.
