Keep Pondicherry clean or will pack bags: Kiran Bedi

Puducherry: Giving an ultimatum to the residents of Puducherry that they should participate in her mission to keep the city and other parts clean by not littering it in the next four weeks, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Sunday warned she would “pack her bags” and leave the ‘lovely former French colony’ if they don’t listen to her “notice” after the deadline expires.
Flagging off a marathon organised by Jipmer Students Council, Ms Bedi did not mince words in expressing her disappointment over the way her drive for a Swacchh Puducherry is not being taken seriously by the people and officials.
“Cleaning the streets is not the job of Lt Governor. Everybody has the responsibility to make Puducherry clean and healthy. You have to joins hands with me. I am here for a mission and if it is not completed, I will pack my bag and go back, Raj Nivas is my office, not (my) home,” she said.
Her plain speaking has only underlined the non-cooperation by a few officials and their refusal to join her on her early morning mission to clean up the streets.
