Telangana: Delay in arrears irks staff
TJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram has extended support to the proposed agitation by employees for PRC arrears.
Hyderabad: Over 4 lakh government employees and pensioners in TS are waiting for Rs 700 crore PRC arrears for the past 18 months. Employees say that while Central government employees have received PRC arrears though the new scales were implemented two months ago, state employees are yet to get dues though the PRC was announced from March 2015.
TJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram has extended support to the proposed agitation by employees for PRC arrears. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar had announced new PRC in March 2015 giving a fitment of 43 per cent (basic pay hike). He said it would be applicable from the date of formation of Telangana State, June 2, 2014. With this, the government owes nine months PRC arrears — from June 2014 to February 2015.
While the CM promised to release the arrears immediately, it did not materialise due to huge financial constraints. Later, a proposal to release the arrears in four instalments came up, which too did not happen.
TS employees association met the CM and finance officials numerous times seeking the. The employees are planning a joint agitation involving teachers, pensioners and other government staff. While there are 1.40 lakh teachers awaiting PRC arrears, there are 1.50 lakh pensioners and remaining 1.10 lakh are staff.
