Rajini pays tributes to police martyrs, says police were given weekly off regularly

Visakhapatnam: Health, family welfare and medical education minister Vidada Rajini has said that regular weekly off is given to the policemen to relieve them from the strain and stress and to perform their duties more efficiently. She said, “Every year, the government gives great importance to the police. Police durbar is held every month with senior officials to find out their problems in duties and solve them.”

Vidadala Rajini was the chief guest for commemorating the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Day. She paid tributes to the police martyrs at the Police Martyrs Smriti Stupam at Beach Road on Saturday.

She appreciated Andhra Pradesh police department for achieving perfection in its duties and becoming the best department in the country. AP police are constantly adopting new methods in crime control, crime investigation, and crime detection, and taking a step forward in public service, the minister added.

On this occasion, police commissioner Dr A. Ravi Shankar said, “In honour of the immortal heroes, the weapons will be displayed at the police stations and in the Armed Reserve premises. Medical camps and blood banks will be organised for police personnel and their family members; essay competitions will be organised for students; and prizes will be given.”

A two-minute silence was observed at the Martyrs’ Stupam, and flowers were offered to the martyrs in recognition of their sacrifices. District collector A. Mallikharjuna Rao, GVMC commissioner C.M. Saikanth Verma, MP, MLA, MLCs, Navy officers, city police officers and staff, retired police officers, police personnel’s family members, and others participated in the memorial parade.
