CM Pinarayi Vijayan talks of stern action in Kannur
CM urges the political parties to end clashes and restore peace in Kannur district.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has promised to take strong action against those creating violence in Kannur. After an all-party meeting held at Hotel Mascot here on Monday, he urged the political parties to end the clashes and restore peace in Kannur district. He said that during the recent raids conducted in Kannur, weapons and bombs had been recovered and urged organisations not to make worship places their training centres.
"Some organisations are controlling worship places and this should end. Worship places are for the devotees. Training of weapons should not be staged near religious centres. Political parties should disown their supporters if they resort to violence in future," he said. He decried the trend of the supporters of political parties thronging police stations to show off their strength forcing the release of the arrested persons. Such incidents will not be tolerated hereafter.
A large number of houses and party offices were coming under attack, he said and urged parties to solve the disputes and clashes at the regional level. The all-party meeting requested the government to install CCTVs at main centres of the state to control other forms of violence. The demand was under the consideration of the government, said Mr Vijayan.
