Renowned Malayalam writer P Valsala dies at 85
Kozhikode: Renowned Malayalam writer P Valsala passed away in a private hospital in Kozhikode on Tuesday. She was 85.
Born in August 1938, Valsala is known for her critically acclaimed work 'Nellu' which narrates the life of tribal communities of Wayanad. She is the recipient of many literary accolades including the Sahitya Akademi Award and Ezhuthachchan Puraskaram. Nizhalurangunna Vazhikal bagged the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award. She wrote more than 20 novels, 300 short stories, biographies and travelogues.
Agneyam, Gauthaman, Palayam, Chaver, Arakkillam, Thakarcha, Koomankolli, Melpaalam, Kanal, Numberukal and Vilapam are some of her major works.
